1st Issue - Regular (definitive) Series
Temporary Use of German Currency

Issue Date:
15 March 2000
Catalog Numbers: Scott, Yvert & Michel Nos. 1-5
Quantity Printed:  8 Million of all values IAW German philatelic news stories at the time.  (Per Kosovo Post, Dec 2008, total printed quantity never released by government to the post office for distribution).
Sheet formats: Sheets of 40.  The 30pf value is in typical old style French format with scallop design in margin, serially numbered with coin date, perforated through top and bottom sheet margin.  Color bars at upper of left margin and color triangles at right lower margin.  All other values:  Smaller paper format, perforated through all margins, serially numbered in UL side tab (5-digits), printing date in LL side tab (i.e., 19 01 00).
Historical Comments:  This is the only set of stamps the Kosovo Post has demonetized (made invalid for postage on 31 July 2002) (the only one as of Dec 2009 - at some point it may decide to accept only stamps inscribed "Republic of Kosovo", and get rid of UNMIK -inscribed stamps entirely).  This demonetization occurred because the German currency was retired in favor of the Euro.  Kosovo now uses the Euro unofficially, outside the scope of the  European Bank.   (It also used the German currency unofficially, UNMIK having simply adopted it as legal tender and then circulating coins and banknotes imported from Germany.)  The price is for the set of 5 in the lower row - the values pictured in the upper row are from photos from a German publication from March 2000 showing the design of the 30pf and 50pf stamps with a yellow country name, the 1 DM with no base on the  digit "1" and with Peace inscriptions larger than on the bottom row of stamps.  Whether these items exists in the market as stamps, proofs, etc., is unknown

2nd Issue - Dual German and Euro Currency Definitives (in odd Eurocent postal rates that never existed)

Issue Date:
20 November 2001
Catalog Numbers:  Scott, Yvert & Michel Nos. 6-10
Quantity Printed:  Not announced.  Per Kosovo Post, Dec. 2009, total quantities printed and distributed never made available to it.
Sheet formats:  Sheets of 50
Historical Comments:  According to German philatelic publications at the time of issue, the Kosovo Post had considerable difficulty delivering this issue to post offices.  The delay was so long that the 3rd issue had arrived and distribution of it was completed before the dual-currency issue was actually fully distributed.  Kosovo uses the Euro unofficially, outside the scope of the European Central Bank.

3rd Issue - Euro Only Currency
(continued odd Eurocent rates that

Quantity Printed:  Not announced.  Per Kosovo Post, Dec. 2009, total quantities printed and distributed never made available to it.

Historical Comments:  German currency stamps (Nos. 1-5 remained usable until 1 July 2002, even though this issue had been issued two months earlier).  Combination DM-only - Euro franked covers exist and were allowed.

4th Issue - 1st Commemorative (Holiday Season)

Issue Date:  20 December 2003
Catalog Numbers:  Scott, Yvert & Michel 16-17
Quantity Printed:  30,000 sets (2,500 sheetlets)
Sheet formats:  Sheetlets of 12 stamps with marginal inscriptions
Historical Comments:  Kosovo, being predominantly Moslem, had a "hard time" using the word "Christmas" in the
text inscriptions in the margins of the sheets of these stamps.  Instead, it used the strained construction of "December's Holiday".

6th Issue - Musical Instruments

Issue Date:  20 August 2004
Catalog Numbers:  Scott, Yvert & Michel Nos. 20-21
Quantity Printed:  30,000 sets (3,000 minisheets).  2,000 official FDCs. (It's unclear if Kosovo Post statistic is for unfranked, cacheted envelopes or with postmarked stamps affixed.)
Sheet formats:  Sheetlets of 10 with marginal inscriptions
Historical Comments:  Note the right hand illustration of a part of a stamp.  This is an image form the Kosovo Post.  The set offered here has the denominations the same size as on the 20c value.   It's unclear if the two printings exist in the open market, with the elements larger than on the left hand image of the 30-eurocent stamp (see the vase , statue, denomination, etc.).

7th Issue - National Costumes

Issue Date:  28 October 2004
Catalog Numbers:  Scott, Yvert & Michel Nos. 22-25
Quantity Printed:  30,000 sets (3,000 sets of sheetlets) 2,000 official FDCs. (It's unclear if Kosovo Post statistic is for unfranked, cacheted envelopes or with postmarked stamps affixed.)
Sheet formats:  Sheetlets of 10 with marginal inscriptions
Historical Comments:  Note the upper row of illustrations is from the original Kosovo Post new issue announcement.  The lower pictured row of stamps is  the offered set that is priced here.  Whether the upper row of stamps (the 20 & 30 eurocent values) that have larger denominations than the issued versions exist in the market as stamps, and if the upper two right hand stamps (with frames, without the country name and with reversed denominations) exist in the market as proofs or whatever, is unclear.

15th Issue - Europa 2006

Issue Date:
9 May 2006
Catalog Numbers:  Scott, Yvert & Michel No. 43-44
Quantity Printed:  60,000 sets (6,000 pairs of sheetlets)
Sheet formats:   Sheetlets of 10
Historical Comments:  This issue was bought in large quantities by Europa stamp speculators in during the "Europa- stamp boom period" in 2006-8.  When the "bubble" burst, large quantities were "dumped" on eBay and other auction sites for a fraction of the original face value.  Thus, this set is the most commonly available UNMIK issue.    Note the difference between the original designs advertised by the Kosovo Post in it's new stamp issue brochures in 2006.  The priced offer here is for the lower row of stamps.  Whether stamps of the designs in the top pair exist in the open market is unclear.
Errors and Varieties:  The set exists in imperforate condition (see Errors and Varieties page on this website), but imperforates first appeared in the market long after the Europa stamp speculation ended.

16th Issue - Fauna (Animals) of Kosovo

Issue Date:
23 May 2006
Catalog Numbers:  Scott, Yvert & Michel No. 45-49
Quantity Printed:  190,000 sets (19,000 sets of sheetlets)
Sheet formats:   Sheetlets of 10
Historical Comments:  Note the difference between the upper illustration and the lower (the lower set is the offered set).  It is not known if the upper set exists in the open market.  The upper illustration is from a new stamp issue bulletin of the Kosovo Post.  This item is for the stamps in the lower row from the printer CPU.
Errors and Varieties:
Two printers were contracted to print stamps issued in 2006 by UNMIK.  Leoprint is a domestic, Kosovo-based printer located at Andrea Gropa Nr. 39, in Pristina.  CPU is a printer in Bosnia.  Note that this set also exists with the Leoprint printer name at the lower right corner of each stamp within the Leoprint printed version of the "Mappa", se-tenant sheetlet of 18 issued in December 2006 - See Issue 22, below.  The stamps with the CPU printer name, once separated from the sheet, are indistinguishable from the stamps the company also printed in the souvenir sheets (below) and in the CPU company printed version of the "Mappa" item (the se-tenant assembly of 2006 issues in one sheetlet - see Issue 22, below).  Leoprint did not produce this set in sheetlets of 10 and it is unclear if it produced any Fauna souvenir sheets.

16th Issue (continued) - Dark Fauna Souvenir Sheet

This item is for the darker shade variety printed by CPU&Moare.  It's unclear if the souvenir sheet exists in light or dark version printed by Leoprint.

NOTE:
Kosovo Ministry of Transport and Communications reports total printing of souvenir sheets 15,000, without differentiating between types.  In Dec. 2009, the ministry confirmed that the light colored version is the scarcer of the two.

28th Issue - Kosovar Sport

Issue Date:
2 October 2007
Catalog Numbers:  Scott, Yvert & Michel Nos. 83-85
Quantity Printed:  38,000 sets (3,800 sheetlet sets).
Sheet formats:  Sheetlet of 10 with no marginal inscriptions
Historical Comments:  Notice the €1 design in the upper row.  It appears to be an artist or printer "mock-up" design that was later changed. The other two denominations were issued unchanged from the designs published by the Kosovo Post prior to new issue date.   The offered set is the set pictured in the lower row.
Errors and Varieties:  This set exists imperforate and imperforate on official FDCs.  The €1 value also exists (sheet position 1 on some sheets) with the country name in English placed correctly, but the Serbian & Albanian name misplaced to the right, towards the center of the design.

Historical Comments:  Notice the upper set - with the country name inscriptions not extending from right to left of stamp margins as they do on the lower pictured set.  The price and offer is for the lower set.  It is unclear whether or not the upper set exists in the open market.  The illustration is from the Kosovo Post new stamp issue bulletin.
Errors and Varieties:  This set exists imperforate and imperforate on official FDCs

32nd Issue - Teacher's Day

Issue Date:   7 March 2008
Catalog Numbers:   Scott, Yvert & Michel Nos. 93-4
Quantity Printed:  35,000 (3,500 sheetlet pairs).
Sheet formats:  Sheetlets of 10 with no marginal inscriptions
Historical Comments:  This issue is inscribed, not with the UNMIK "country name" or administration of issuance inscriptions, but with "Republic of Kosovo", even though Kosovo had not declared independence prior to the issuance of this stamp set.  Therefore, it is offered here as the final UNMIK set issued under it's (or even perhaps under Serbian) sovereignty.
Errors and Varieties:  The printer had considerable difficulty perforating the sheets of sheetlets of these stamps - they exist and are available in the open market with diagonal perforations and skewed, non-parallel broken lines of holes.
