NGOs
partnership of multiethnic Voluntary Promotional Program – DMD creates
new alliances and coalitions to promote new Convention on the Rights of
Persons with Disabilities with appropriate programs, ceremonies, and
activities Kosova wide.
Voluntary
Promotional Program of DMD (Disability Mentoring Days) has made great
progress to ensure that opportunities are accessible to everyone who is
willing and able to work and to build on the progress of the fully
integrate men and women with disabilities into all aspects of life
without discrimination and keeps New Freedom Initiative - Americans’
idea that was implementing in Kosovo and it has helped expand access to
technology, training, and education for citizens with disabilities.
Campaign “ October – DMD Month “ of professional abilities to persons
with disabilities has an objective to fight against poverty, decrease
unemployment, promoting increased access into daily community life and
fight against the discrimination with which the persons with
disabilities are faced everyday. Also, this campaign of DMD promotes
the new Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and its
implementation in Kosovo. It is worth mentioning that Kosovo has also
actively contributed its input in drafting the wording of its text.
The campaign ‘’October – DMD Month’’ is a New Freedom Initiative which
started in the USA and its goal is to increase access to equal
opportunities for employment for persons with disabilities so
eliminating the barriers that prevent persons with disabilities from
participating fully in community life.
We appeal to the Government, to Governments’ Institutions, to private
business and craft workshops that during the DMD Month of October they
offer this opportunity to persons with disabilities and provide
promotional employment for one or several days in their institutions.
Persons
with disabilities can provide their input and contribution to different
areas. Persons with disabilities are faced more with the problem of
unemployment and discrimination than other members of the society.
Campaign “ October – DMD Month” promotes:
- Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities
- Protection the human rights of persons with disabilities
- Fight against poverty
- Non - discrimination.
We
are grateful to our donors the US office in Prishtina, OSCE, the
Ministry of Health and kind contributors to the Office of Good
Governance and all partner NGOs, volunteers, people of good will who
are supporting us in our mission to improve the lives of PWD and
protect the Human Rights of PWD by creating a conducive environment for
them to integrate in the society.

Recommendations
from round tables those were organized Kosovo wide during Week to the
Rights of Persons with Disabilities 23 – 27 April.
At dawn of 21st century, we still face discrimination on a daily basis
· We face discrimination and prejudice on a daily basis and in all fields of life
· We do not enjoy equal access to education, suffer high unemployment rates and often live on a low income
· We
cannot move around freely, go to work, to a restaurant, to theatres,
cinemas, libraries, shopping, meet friends, or any other daily
activity, due to inaccessible public transport and environment
infrastructure
· We
must mobilize to strengthen non-discrimination legislative measures
until the full integration of disabled persons in society will become a
reality.
· Multiethnic
Voluntary Promotional Program DMD is New Free Initiative in Kosovo and
it is just an ideal action for us to make legislative towards the
Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
